| Vancouver, B.C. Canada (May
20, 2003): Autoprise,
Inc., a software and services company specializing
in innovative solutions for the automotive collision
repair industry, announced today the release of
their Portable Production Manager upgrade, a powerful
new version that works on any hand held computer
or PDA running Microsoft’s ® Pocket PC
operating system. The application allows the shop’s
production manager to update production plans,
perform task scheduling, add notes, schedule in/out
dates, and assign technicians while on the shop
floor, increasing productivity and efficiency.
The Portable Production Manager application is
designed to work with Autoprise’s existing
Solo and Unity shop management systems.
“Mobile technology devices are an excellent
fit in the collision shop environment. Our clients
save time and increase productivity by having
the freedom to perform tasks such as scheduling,
managing arrivals and deliveries, and assigning
technicians from anywhere in the shop, instead
of having to return to the office to enter this
information into the computer,” said Ryan
Volberg, Chief Executive Officer of Autoprise,
Inc. “For example, our Portable Production
Manager allows shop managers to update information
as it happens – increasing efficiency and
eliminating errors that happen when shop managers
have to manually track production details in
the shop and then enter the information later
in the office.”
In addition to the Portable Production Manager,
Autoprise offers other mobile technology options
that increase flexibility and efficiency in the
collision shop. Autoprise’s Time Manager
application runs on a touch screen terminal located
on the shop floor and allows technicians to easily
enter the time they spend on each task, get the
status of a vehicle, check parts, and hand off
the car between departments.
Additionally, Autoprise’s Unity and Solo
shop management solutions can be run on a Tablet
PC – a lightweight, fully functional and
portable computer. Unlike a laptop computer,
the monitor either detaches or swivels to lie
flat (depending on the model) so the unit can
be easily transported and used wherever it is
needed. With wireless network access and a Tablet
PC, a shop manager has the flexibility to access,
update and send information from the shop’s
management and estimating systems from anywhere
in the shop.
Autoprise client Greg Smith, Manager of Kirmac
Collision, Surrey, BC, has been using a Tablet
PC and is thrilled with the results. “Return
on investment has been impressive,” said
Smith. “The Tablet PC has more than paid
for itself already, and it has not yet been utilized
to the fullest potential in my shop. I have found
the convenience of being able to enter information
while being right at the vehicle is a huge time
saver. It eliminates the need to write details
down by hand, and then re-enter it into the computer
in the office.”
Autoprise will be demonstrating their mobile
technology and shop management solutions at the
upcoming ASA Northwest Automotive Industry Trade
Show (www.asanait.com) taking place in Washington
State May 30-31, 2003, booth number 318.
